How we mark errors, the difference between a correction and a clarification, and how to report one.
What counts as a correction
A correction is a change to the substance of a piece: a wrong figure, a misidentified provision, a wrong date, a wrong jurisdiction, or a claim that turned out to be unsupported.
A clarification changes no fact but removes an ambiguity.
How corrections are shown
A correction is published on the piece itself, with its date and a description of what was wrong and what it now says. We do not fix factual errors silently.
A corrected piece keeps its correction permanently. It is part of the record, not a temporary notice.
